Brighton has nearly a thousand shops selling everything from the modern to the retro and the kitsch to the fashionable; it can be a veritable shopaholic's paradise, in fact Brighton boasts more shops per square mile than any City in the UK.

There are basically three main areas in which to buy clothes, jewellery, bric a brac and retro gear. Along Western Road, right at the centre of the shopping area there is the "Churchill Square Shopping Centre", where you will find all the big chains, and then there is the world famous "North Laine" (A Carnaby Street feel) and then the "Old Lanes" - a criss-cross of narrow alleys, designer jewellers and outfitters, made famous in films such as Quadrophenia.
